Dartboard cabinets aren’t just for show. Owning a good dartboard cabinet has several benefits. It can protect your dartboard, hold a dry-erase or electronic scoreboard, add lighting options, and even act as storage for your extra dart gear.

But of course, it is also for show. You want your darts corner to look great even when not in use, and a good-looking dartboard cabinet set is just what you need to do this.

Today I am going to review the top best dart board cabinets you can find and provide a few different cabinet options depending on what you are looking for. Not all play areas are created equally, and you will need to find the best dartboard cabinet that suits your set up.

If you don’t want to read through all the options, I have 2 favorites that I recommend depending on the look you are going for. The Barrington Premium Bristle Dartboard With Cabinet Set (link to Amazon) if you have a lot of wall space and want a traditional wood finish. Then there is the Viper Metropolitan if you want a sleek modern look.

Let’s take a look at the best dart board cabinets.

The Best Dart Board Cabinets

Before we begin I want to say, I have no affiliation or bias with the company Viper. Their name shows up a lot in these reviews. It just happens that they make quite a few of the best dartboard cabinets out there.

Barrington Premium Bristle Dartboard Cabinet Set

Barrington Premium Bristle Dart board Cabinet review

If you have the space and like the classic wood finish, The best dartboard cabinet is Barrington Woodhaven Premium Bristle Dartboard Cabinet Set.

Barrington actually a Billiards Company with a history of making high-quality tables and accessories. This explains the elegant design and fine attention to detail.

First, this dartboard cabinet set is beautiful and that’s an understatement. If you want something that has a “Wow factor”, this is it. With a full wood frame and detailed crown molding, it screams quality.

The cabinet includes a scoreboard on both the left and right sides of so there is plenty of room to keep track of your games. You may want to ditch the dry-erase marker and just use chalk from the get-go.

Under each scoreboard, there are holes drilled to store your darts when not in use. If you are not scared you can go ahead and drill a few more if needed. But really the top side of this cabinet is so long, it offers plenty of space where you can tuck away any extra supplies you need to.

The last notable feature is the lighting. Rarely you will see a dartboard cabinet set with lighting built right in. This one has 3 LED light fixtures across the top shining straight down.

Unfortunately, because of the low profile, these lights are not out far enough to get a good angle on the dartboard. So while they are a nice touch, still be prepared to use an additional lighting source with this dartboard cabinet set.

This is an all-in-one package that includes a dartboard with the cabinet and steel tip darts. While most buyers already own this equipment, having the spares around is just a sweet bonus that they did not need to include as this cabinet already stole the show.

Pros

  • BEAUTIFUL!
  • Built-in lighting and dart storage
  • Dual scoreboards
  • Comes with dartboard and darts

Cons

  • Lights are not in the best position for full board coverage

Viper Metropolitan Dartboard Cabinet

Viper Metropolitan Dart board Cabinet Review

I like the Viper Metropolitan for a few different reasons. First, it has a sleek minimalist design that is simple but still looks classy.

Out of all the dartboard cabinet on the list, this is the only one where you can choose the finish you want.

The color options are; cinnamon, espresso, mahogany, and oak. So if you are trying to squeeze a cabinet into your existing decor you do have some choices.

The inside features a luxurious galaxy-black felt backing which looks great with the darker colored woods.

One side of the cabinet has an outs chart and the other has a dry erase scoreboard with a marker. The bottom portion of the cabinet has all types of pockets and sleeves, which I have not seen built into a cabinet before.

Not only do you have the option for colors, but you can also pick and choose what comes in the box.

If you need a dartboard you can even choose between the Dead On and the Razorback. Which are actually 2 decent boards, especially when compared to what their competitors offer with their cabinets.

If you opt for the Elite Set, it also includes a Viper laser oche, which I have recommended in other articles in the past.

If you are looking for an instant dart set up in a box, this is easily the best option you will find.

Pros

  • Sleek modern design
  • Dry erase scoreboard and out chart
  • Unique storage compartment
  • Dartboard is optional

Cons

  • None

Rustic Wood & Iron Handcrafted Dart Board Wall Cabinet

Country Rustic Wood and Iron Handcrafted Dart Board Wall Cabinet

Most of the cabinets on the list have a very sleek and polished finish. If you are looking for something a little more rustic, this is the one for you.

Whether closed or open, this cabinet shows off its unique style. The pinewood planks are held together with oversized metal plates. The iron hinges and handles give this cabinet a traditional rustic feel that would be right at home in most man caves.

While the inside looks just as great and there is plenty of space to keep your darts, there are no scoreboards. This is a huge oversight in design on which would be an otherwise perfect cabinet. Of course, you can purchase and attach your own scoreboard, but they have always been a standard on cabinets and there is no reason why not to include at least one.

It is also worth noting that these cabinets are made to order in the USA.

Pros

  • Beautiful custom made cabinet
  • Solid full wood construction
  • Made in the USA

Cons

  • No scoreboards. Why?
  • Very heavy, might not be for all walls

Viper Hudson Sisal Dartboard Cabinet

Viper Hudson All-in-One Dart Center Review

The Viper Hudson dartboard cabinet is one of the best boards reviewed. It is kind of like a smaller version of the Metropolitan. But it scraps the modern design for a more classic look.

Unfortunately, the Hudson only comes in a mahogany finish. Don’t get me wrong, it still looks wonderful but it would be nice if they offered all the color options of the Metropolitan.

Inside we have the standard out chart on the left and dry-erase scoreboard on the right. What I like about this model is the scoreboard uses a good chunk of real estate.  Too many times I open a cabinet and find an itsy-bitsy scoreboard sitting in the middle of a door that offers 3 times the space.

To make this cabinet smaller, they removed the nice storage compartment that the Metropolitan has. Of course, if you have somewhere else to keep your dart supplies this may not affect you.

The Hudson also offers several variations including bundles with different dartboards, darts, and the laser toe line.

Another solid choice for the player who does not yet have these necessities.

Pros

  • Traditional style and finish
  • Smaller compact design
  • Multiple bundle options

Cons

  • The smaller design comes at a cost of storage space.
  • Only comes in Mahogany

Hathaway Centerpoint Dartboard Cabinet

Hathaway Centerpoint Dart board Cabinet Review

I don’t know why dartboard cabinet manufacturers keep including boards and darts, sure it would be nice as an option but the consumer is paying extra for it in the long run and it is rarely needed.

Even with the additional gear, Hathaway has managed to keep the price of this set down while still providing an excellent quality dartboard with cabinet bundle.

Although it is made of poplar, it has a beautiful dark cherry finish. The engraving on the front is just enough to add a little bit of elegance without getting to fancy.

The interior has a nice green felt backing that really makes your dartboard pop. There are 2 dry-erase scoreboards (which I prefer over chalk) and 6 slots to hold 2 sets of darts.

The included dartboard does not appear to be of the highest quality, so if you are going with this package, bringing your own board along for the ride is recommended.

Pros

  • The dark cherry and green felt give it an elegant look
  • Dry-erase boards instead of chalk

Cons

  • Sub-Par dartboard

Centerpoint Outlaw Free Standing Cabinet For Electronic Dartboards

Centerpoint Outlaw Free Standing Dart Board Cabinet Review

Many electronic dartboards come with built-in doors that you can close up to keep your board safe when not in use. Rarely will you find a full cabinet designed specifically for an electronic dartboard, but this is it.

This standing cabinet does not have doors on the top portion and therefore your board will always be on display and no external scoreboards.

It is also missing the felt backing in favor of wood, not a problem if you will be playing with soft-tip darts on an electric board. If you ever decide to switch to a bristle dartboard, you may want to cover up that nice wood somehow.

The included electronic dartboard is good enough, with built-in scoring and boasting 29 games and over 90 variations to keep you busy for hours.

This unit has something that no other cabinet on this list has, the benefit of added storage, and plenty of it. The bottom base of the cabinet offers 3 full-size shelves with closing doors. Perfect for people like me who buy too much dart stuff.

Pros

  • Perfect starter set if you are looking for an electronic dart board
  • Plenty of storage

Cons

  • Not ideal for a bristle dart board
  • No upper doors mean no external scoreboards

Viper Hideaway Dartboard Cabinet

Viper Hideaway Dart board Cabinet Review

I am including the Hideaway as a “budget” option here but it has some surprising features that the others lack.

Please note: The dartboard included is a paper board and the slim profile of this cabinet is actually too slim for most sisal dartboards. It is only 1.5″ deep. So if you already have a board, make sure to measure first if you plan on going with this option.

It has a standard black wood finish, it is square and boxy. The style doesn’t look bad, but it is a little plain depending on the rest of your decor.

The inside is of the cabinet where the uniqueness shines. First, the doors have magnet locks. While the hinges on most doors are designed to keep the doors closed, having the extra locking mechanism should be standard.

The Hideaway has dual scoreboards which are pretty standard. But here’s the awesomeness, the inside of the doors are coated to act as the chalkboard. From edge to edge, corner to corner, the inside of the door is 100% scoreboard. I love the extra space and it is a feature I have implemented in my own cabinet using stick-on chalkboard paper.

The dartboard included is a cheaper paper board but it hides a secret feature. On the reverse side of the dartboard, you get DARTBALL!

While dartball is not the most popular game around, its lack of play is certainly because it requires a special board that can be hard to find and expensive. Getting one included with your dartboard cabinet is a definite bonus.

Pros

  • Magnetic door locks
  • Slim profile
  • Wall to wall scoreboards
  • Dartball!

Cons

  • Plain design
  • Cabinet not deep enough for some boards
  • Sub-par dartboard

Thousand Oaks Barrel Personalized Dartboard Cabinet

Thousand Oaks Barrel Personalized Dart board Cabinet Review

Yes, that says personalized, as in with your name on it. To be honest the full-color design on this dart cabinet looks good on its own. Thousand Oaks Barrel will customize this cabinet with your name.

All that being said, this is just a Viper Hideaway with a custom painted cover. Which is not a bad thing. The Viper Hideaway also made this list and with good reason. It is a solid cabinet with a corner to corner chalkboard, which I love.

You are paying a big premium to have the customization but it is cool and makes an awesome gift. Just remember the 1.5” depth if you plan on bringing your own board.

Pros

  • Base cabinet is a Viper Hideaway
  • Customized with your name
  • Corner to corner chalkboard

Cons

  • Low profile will not fit all boards
  • The included dartboard is low quality.

King’s Head Dark Wood Dartboard Cabinet Set

King's Head Dark Wood Dart board Cabinet Review

The King’s Head cabinet is probably the best budget option on this list. While it is a good value, it does lack some of the attention to details you would find in the more expensive cabinets

While it does have a solid construction and an interesting design on the front. It is really just a standard cabinet that meets the bare necessities in all departments.

The only place to store stuff is the ledge under the dartboard. The chalkboards are smaller than they could be. And while it claims to come with a “self-healing” dartboard, the one that is included is paper, so don’t by this one for the board.

I know it sounds like I am being harsh but the cabinet itself is not bad. It is the absolute minimum you would need in a cabinet and only should be considered if you are looking for a low-cost solution. I would strongly consider any other options on this list first.

Pros

  • Interesting emblazoned design on the front
  • Comparable build quality to more high-end cabinets

Cons

  • Small scoreboards
  • Dartboard is paper
  • Some users report misprints on the design

Viper Wood Framed Dartboard Backboard

Viper Wood Framed Dart board Backboard Review

Technically this is not a cabinet but if this is the type of thing you are looking for, it is too good to leave off the list.

The Viper Wood Framed Backboard is just that, a large black felt backboard with a mahogany frame. It is perfect for the hardcore player who needs there dartboard out at all times. It tells people you mean business and will make your dartboard look like a piece of art.

The wide space between the board and the edge of the frame leaves plenty of space for a surround and/or some high-quality lighting.

Because of its simplicity, it can pass as modern minimalist design or classic elegance. It is the only one on this list that would probably fit in regardless of the surrounding environment.

Pros

  • Cheap
  • Sleek look
  • Plenty of space for surround and lighting

Cons

  • No storage
  • No scoreboards

Dartboard Cabinet Buyers Guide (5 Things To Look For)

Playing darts is addictive. I’ve seen the pattern all too often. Friends, family, acquaintances, and coworkers have all been bitten by, and fallen victim to, the darts bug. They usually start with a piffling knowledge of the game, until that one day when they play their first game.

Soon after that, I’ll find them immersed in the deep end; watching tourneys on the TV, following Pro-players on social media, and playing regularly in their local pubs and bars. Ultimately, they all end up in the same place. Buying a dartboard, setting it up in their homes, then eating, sleeping, and breathing darts.

Once this happens (and trust me, it will happen), you are going to want to consider purchasing a dartboard cabinet.

Arguably, dartboard cabinets can be considered the most important “accessory” purchase you will make in your years as a dart player because it can provide you with a variety of benefits; both as a player and a connoisseur of the sport.

But the accessory market is booming, and making a purchase in a crowded and booming market can be a challenging proposition. Don’t worry though, today I’m going to take a minute or two to help you by telling you what to look for when picking a dartboard cabinet.

Quality

The first thing you are going to want to consider carefully is the fabrication of your dartboard cabinet.

I’m talking about variables such as which material was used to manufacture the cabinet, whether it was glued, screwed or stapled together, or if the cabinet has been sanded, polished, coated, etc.

These manufacturing factors should influence your decision because each one will determine, to a certain degree, the longevity of your investment.

For example, a lot of manufacturers offer cabinets that look relatively good but are made with cheap laminate materials that decay quickly over time. On the other hand, cabinets made with higher quality woods such as poplar, oak, and walnut will last a very long while.

Quick note: Don’t feel like you have to spend a fortune in order to have a quality product. There are relatively inexpensive woods, such as pine, that strike the perfect balance between durability and price.

Style & Design

Often, people will underestimate the value of style and other design-oriented factors. Remember that the cabinet will become a fixture of your home.

Whether you install the cabinet in your living room, basement or dedicated game room, it will spend a good amount of hours just hanging there calling attention to itself.

Furthermore, by carefully considering the style and design of your cabinet, you can strengthen or mold the atmosphere of your games.

On the other hand, choosing an item that haphazardly clashes with the preexisting style of a given room can break the ambiance and leave you feeling like something is off.

Even if you place greater emphasis on function over form, the design aesthetic of your dartboard cabinet can still provide a specific mood if chosen with care.

This is also the time to make sure that you measure the space available on your wall so that your brand new cabinet fits without issues.

Storage

Exactly how hardcore you go into the hobby will ultimately determine how valuable a factor such as the storage capacity of your cabinet will be. After all, if your only concern is to have a cover for your dartboard and nothing else, storage concerns become less relevant.

However, it is highly unlikely that you become engrossed in the darts and stop at just a dartboard. The grand majority of those that begin to get into the game, end up purchasing a plethora of darts and accessories.

So if you find yourself in this group, it is good to look for a cabinet with plenty of storage space for your extra darts, flights, barrels, tip-sharpeners, etc.

Added Value

Finally, we recommend that you consider purchasing cabinets from manufacturers that go above and beyond by including added value into their offerings.

What do I mean by added value?

Well, some cabinet manufacturers will include the bare minimum, while some others will include everything you need to optimize your dart playing experience; thus offering a comprehensive bundle that provides convenience and the potential for significant savings.

For example, some premium packages will include a bundled set that may contain a sisal/bristle or electronic dartboard, dry erase scoreboards, out-charts, dry erase markers, and mounting hardware to make installation as hassle-free as possible.

Other ways in which added value is included by manufacturers is to feature inner linings, metal hinges, and door stoppers for extra protection. Some will even include adhesive throw lines so that every aspect of your setup is covered.

For example, something like the Viper’s Hudson line of cabinets presents a comprehensive bundle that hits all the marks.

Price

Price, of course, is a big factor for many of us. While ultimately this is going to come down to what you can afford, it is worth saving for and spending a bit more for a higher quality product.

A quality dartboard cabinet can easily last 10-20 years or more. Spending a few extra dollars to get the make and model that you want is worth it. It will be in your home for years to come.

Spend that money on yourself, you deserve it!

Conclusion

When there are as many options to choose from as there are in the dartboard industry, it is easy to fall victim to analysis paralysis; it has happened to me, and I’ve seen it happen to others.

But there is no need for that. This list has the cabinet you are looking for. Just choose the design that best suits your game room and take the plunge.

I hope this list of the top best dartboard cabinets helps you to make a decision. Let us know which dartboard cabinet you chose and how you like it.
